9/28/2023 0 Comments Sky replacement luminar 4![]() The rest is up to you and how realistic you want your sky. This is the hardest part done already in my mind. The AI does it for you and actually does a decent job. So having to go around the edges is not an issue here. However, where this works very well is making intricate masks. You have to keep in mind that not every situation is going to be suitable and not every sky will work. With all that being said, It does work in many situations where you have a relatively uncluttered horizon. I find that you can adjust and tweak this feature to make it work but there are going to be situations where it simply won’t work and you have to be aware of that before you start. How Good is GOOD?Īs with anything, nothing “AI” or “One-Click” is going to be perfect for every situation. It’s not perfect but as close to it as a one-click solution can be. However, after poking around with it, I found that it in fact is a great feature to have when you need a basic sky to complete the image. Now, I don’t really think that the sunrays feature is a bad thing but it was hard to find the perfect spot or situation that would not scream “FAKE!!” and I was worried that the sky replacement would be the same. The simplicity and fun factor of Luminar AI, compared to frustration of doing the same tasks in Photoshop, just makes working in Luminar AI a joy for any user level. However, I thought that I would test out this feature and see if it was as hokey as the sunrays feature was. Add to that, the very large range of sky options available for purchase. and, even though Photoshop has Machine learning features, Luminar AI doesn’t require a knowledge of masking, making the process far less complex. The AI (Artificial Intelligence, AKA Machine Learning) of Luminar AI is aware of the content of the photo, sky, land, people, trees, etc. But if you are an experienced Photoshop user, you can export directly to Luminar AI for additional work. Because of that, casual Photoshop users find it daunting due to the steep learning curve. In the (find) Sky feature of Photoshop, it’s almost always necessary to use Select and Mask for fine tuning. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Masking those kinds details can result in halos and obvious detail edges, a big giveaway that the photo has been altered. Horizon lines, tree details like leaves and other fine details are always a challenge in sky replacement. I have to be honest, I was suspicious of Luminar AI. ![]()
